Unless the overhaul describes exactly the sort of game you want - THEN install only the overhaul. EG - if you want to change lockpicking, just add a small mod that adds lockpick marks or removes the difficulty hint, rather than an entire "sneak-thieving" overhaul mod. Less opportunity for conflict and crashes like you experienced. Sometimes you only want a small tweak and not an overhaul - go with the small tweak mod. Obviously mods like Convenient Horses and Faster Horses will be trying to alter horse behaviour, so don't install both - research them (read user posts, search the mods on YouTube - big help) decide which best suits the game you want and choose only one. Just think about what the mod is changing and pick the best one for that game system. General rule - DONT install more than ONE mod per game system. Maybe also Xenius Character enhancement and Ethereal Elven Overhaul When mods conflict like this - you get instant Crash to Desktop after the logo like you're describing. They're both affecting the kill-move animation game data. I'll bet dollars to donuts that No Spinning Death Animation and The Dance of Death mods are conflicting. I know I tried that and ended up having to re-install and start again. You cant just slap a bunch of mods into your game and assume it will work. Installing mods isn't like the iPhone App Store. Got Skyrim on PC and installed a slew of mods.
